what companies can learn from open source

Interesting article, not sure I buy all of it but it does resonate with some of my attitudes about work.

i don't know that i agree with all of it. and yeah, most folks eventually need the security provided by a job not just those of us with kids and a mortgage. (that REALLY bugged me)

i do know that i bust ass a lot harder for a customer... but it's possible to have a customer within an organization. the problem is that there are some aspects of a product that people NEED but don't want. and this is where agile methods and open source tend to fall short as far as I can tell.
