emotional stew
Feb. 18th, 2005 10:59 pmAs I was walking through the Pgh airport, the phrase "emotional stew" occurred to me, and I first thought: Yes, that's brilliant, what a perfect metaphor. All kinds of stuff mixed together, and it's all been cooking long enough that the flavors have kind of seeped into each other, so nothing is just purely itself, everything has overtones of something else.
But then I thought, but I like stew. And don't think I so much like this.
Well, anyway. Arrived safely, found hotel, succeeded in getting dinner before the hotel restaurant closed. Drank 2 glasses of wine in the hope that it would make me sleepy, which seems to be working.
Purchased in-room broadband internet access for $10/day. Boy, are they making some money off of me. What a rip-off, but OTOH, what a convenience! how amazing that such things are even possible...
I think I meant to say something more, but I really am feeling tired, so I'll stop here.
Oh, just remembered what else I meant to say: sitting in SFO, I noticed my throat feeling a little sore. First thought: geez, I don't want to give my Dad a cold, it might kill him. Second thought: if this had hit just a tiny bit sooner, I might have packed vitamins and herb tea and cold medicine.
Oh well.
