In the meantime, a couple of random linkies. Neither an April Fool's joke, honest -- well, maybe the mermaid is, but I just thought it was kinda cool.

Speaking of April Fool's, I found it very gratifying that after I re-posted sushispook's link about the "new web security feature" to the nonbiz list at work, one of the product managers from the web security product line re-re-posted it to a couple of the serious product-related lists. I was oddly tickled that he liked it -- plus it was much funnier with his straight-face intro (along the line of "we don't usually have much trouble with this competitor, but this time they've really come up with an amazing feature"). *grin*

In case you feel the need for a little rube goldberg.
On my way to remembering the phrase "rube goldberg machine", I came across this dictionary with word-network-mappy goodness. I'm generally sceptical about the utility of this kind of viz, but it's fun to play with.
I <3 this rather macabre series of paintings: freak parade. Especially love the way each connects to the next...
I'm not usually that excited about Legos, but this post-apocalyptic eco-punk crawler town is pretty cool.
Rest your eyes on some rather splendid nature photos.

Dec. 30th, 2009 05:45 pmOn the idolatry side, we have the most utterly fabulous Obama action figure. Be sure to scroll down to see the poses with the samurai sword and the light saber.
To even the scale, here's some snark.

Dec. 11th, 2009 10:54 amOK, so I took the day off work in order to stave off panic about holiday preparations (or lack thereof). But that doesn't mean I can't ( waste a little time )

May. 9th, 2009 01:03 pmThis morning at the farmer's market I bought three different kind of cherries. Yum! Greed is fun!
For the crafty types: Surely we all *need* Cthulhu ski masks
Especially for past residents of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Detroit (or any reasonable equivalent):

Watch both, in order, for maximum LOLs.

food for thought
Nov. 8th, 2008 09:48 amI enjoyed this little new yorker essay about conservative vs progressive family values. Although of course, it seems kind of wildly oversimplified, relative to, um, the actual families of actual people I know? Still, it is interesting.
