time zoned
Jul. 27th, 2008 07:19 amIt is weird and mildly annoying to stay up until 1:00 AM but find oneself inescapably awake before 7:00. And then slightly disorienting and oddly disheartening to observe that checking LJ/email is quite pointless, because the people who might post/write (anything of interest as opposed to spam) are all on the west coast and it's only 4:00 AM there...
galapagos retrospective
Jun. 13th, 2008 02:25 pmWhile in the Galapagos, I didn't have computer access to encourage my usual long rambling journal entries. So instead I took brief cryptic notes on a small pad of paper, mainly to help me remember what happened which day on what island. I hereby reproduce these in all their incoherent glory, with a little added explication.

distraction
Dec. 31st, 2007 02:44 pmWhile attempting to clear off the dining room table, I came across the form that I needed to fill out, in order to get a refund for being overcharged for foreigh currency conversion on credit card transactions between 1996 and 2006. Which meant I needed to estimate how many days I had been outside the US during those years. ( fun facts )
I have now posted pictures from my Pgh trip. The largest number are from the Chihuly exhibit, but there are also a couple snapshots of my ancient father (this is, BTW, how he refers to himself and has for the past couple of decades -- but at this point, it is starting to seem true...)
