Things that made me cranky today:
1. Any thought about work that crossed my mind.
2. Vacuuming. (My personal least favorite chore.)
2a. The fact that the Roomba is not working again (even for the limited set of carpets that I even try to use it on), even though I patiently opened it up and cleaned out all the fuzz, hair, and fur. [Yes, that sentence had the word "even" in it 3 times, and I stand by every one of them.]
3. The garage door opener system is messed up, won't be fixed until Monday. Getting out of the garage is not so bad, but getting back in requires: double-parking, getting out and letting myself into the building throught the closest entrance, running through the hall to get into the garage, pressing the button to open the garage door, and scurrying to get back into my car and drive through the door before it automatically closes again.
4. Standing in line 3 times at REI: first to get to the cashier, but then I couldn't find my member number and he couldn't find it in the system; then at customer service, where the clever person did find my member number; then back to the checkout line, where mysteriously all but one cashier had evaporated...
5. My knees are twinging. This hasn't happened (at least not at this magnitude) for a while, and may be directly related to running on concrete floors (see item 3). Or standing too much (see item 4).
Things that made me happy today:
1. Sunshine.
2. Driving the mini with the sunroof open.
3. Finally got my hair trimmed (possibly at the place that Wanda recommended, or else at someplace random in Alameda with a name similar to what I think I remember Wanda may have said). It's not genius, but quite good enough that I'll go back.
4. Despite almost being overwhelmed by shoe-shopping-fatigue -- I can't believe people actually do this for fun -- succeeded in buying walking shoes and hiking boots that I think will work.
So, crankiness is ahead on points, but the day did have some fine moments. And despite the dubious wisdom of going out dancing with sore knees, I just confirmed w/ Gwen that I'll give her a ride to new wave city. So as long as I avoid hurting myself, the day can still get better :)
