Had a really good time with K&K, highlights of which included seeing Blind Boys of Alabama and a somewhat belated but completely delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

Visiting Pittsburgh, as usual, had it's bittersweet moments, but was good overall. I had a good visit with my Dad, and a good visit with my sister & her kids.

The main stress turned out to be my friend Julie, with whom I was staying. In the first place, she had a crisis while I was there, leading me to contemplate how many other crises I have sat through with her... plus, she has a new girlfriend, who at the last minute invited her to spend xmas day with the family, resulting in Julie cancelling our plans. Kind of pissed me off -- I know that love makes us all crazy, but still -- not really cool.

But it worked out OK. By the 25th, I was kind of sick of Julie and talking about her crisis and how sure she is that this new girlfriend is really the one, blah blah. So after she left, I went to see Return of the King and walked back to Julie's place in the snow and drank most of the bottle of wine she had given me (because I didn't really want to carry it home with me anyway), all of which was quite nice.

So now I'm home, a little tired, doing life-maintenance stuff like laundry and grocery shopping. Feeling a little depressed that I don't have any particular plans for New Year's, and a little depressed (albeit unsurprised) that I gained another couple of pounds while travelling.

But glad to be home & settling in for a quiet evening with the kitties.
