computer foo (redux)
Apr. 17th, 2005 11:45 amMy computer really has become totally unreliable. I need to do something about this. When I got home late last night (or technically, very early this AM), being of course keyed up rather than sleepy, I sat down at the computer to check email and LJ. As soon as I hit the refresh button in the browser, the screen went black. The machine proceeded to reboot itself and then had a disk error (due to the untidy shutdown, duh) so I went and read for a bit while the disk check ran. And when I tried again: same thing.
At that point I gave up for the night. This AM decided to run the Norton windows registry checking utility and clear the browser cache and hope for the best. So far, so good, but I am doubtful that the root cause has been addressed.
The silly part is that I actually had been thinking that I should use the AP money to buy a new computer. I just don't feel ready to decide what I want...
