in retrospect...

jaeclectic...I didn't get any more done today than if I'd slept later, cause I was just moving so very slooow all AM.
But I did not fail to take my weekend hike -- not a very long one today, just over 6 miles, but quite strenuous -- I have a few twinges now, especially the right ankle, but I think it's just tiredness, not damage. And probably more related to yesterday's furniture wrangling than the hike per se. In any case, sweat and endorphins are a reasonably good hangover remedy, with the result that I managed the basic life-maintenance chores after that, along with looking at one more apartment (which was OK, not intolerably bland, just noticably smaller than my current amount of furniture. *sigh*)
Major things I didn't get to: a) making any further appointments to look at more places, and/or coherent strategizing about how to negotiate with the property management co, and b) shoe shopping (again!) since my latest work shoes are really not quite the thing for my new half mile plus full mile walk to and from BART, and my latest walking shoes are not perfectly comfortable (I keep hoping they'll break in, but I've had them a while now, so I may be dreaming), and although my hiking boots are great, I don't want to wear them to work every day. As a temporary measure, I have gone back to wearing the soft ankle boots that were supposed to be thrown away because one of them is torn along the side and both have gaping cracks in the soles. But hey, the rainy season is over, right? Right? Please?
Now feeling tired but oddly fidgety, perhaps due to eating some dark chocolate-covered raisins earlier (just one of the many perils of Trader Joe's -- hey, I managed to walk past the scones). It is cruel that I have now become so sensitive to caffeine that I notice the effect of a modest dose of chocolate. Just not right. Hopefully it will not be enough to keep me up, I think a good night's sleep is exactly what I need right now. And on that note, night-night and sleep tight!
