hiking report
Jun. 5th, 2005 07:46 pmI just got back from a hike at Mt. Diablo State Park -- didn't actually do Mt. Diablo per se, but instead hiked Eagle Peak. Wow, that was a workout. Wow, wow, wow. I mean, ow, ow, ow. I am just a wee bit sore now.
The distance was only about 6.5 miles, but the hike had a lot of elevation change: approximately 1700 ft in the first two miles. Pretty steep, quite a scramble in places. Thankfully, most of the route down was a lot mellower than the route up -- I am much more comfortable with a steep climb up (mostly just a matter of pacing) vs a steep climb down (which is actually frightening because I think I am going to lose my balance, slip, and hurt myself).
I am frustrated to find that the trail map (that I spent 5 dollars for) does not show trail lengths, and although it shows elevations, they are not marked at all of the trail heads. Hrmph.
