hiking report addendum
Jun. 7th, 2005 12:18 pmStill feeling irritated that I didn't have the exact length of the hike I did on Sunday, I went idly googling for info on Mt. Diablo and found this description of the exact loop that I did (except that I went in reverse order, steep part on the way out / up rather than on the way back / down).
The main point being that the overall distance is given as 7.8 miles (not 6.something as stated by the person at the visitor center), and they rate it as strenuous (not like I didn't know that!) And I did the hike in less than 4 hours vs their predicted 5.
So I can stop feeling mildy wimpy about the fact that this hike kicked my butt :)
p.s. The elevation change was 1770 feet in the first 2.8 miles.
p.p.s. In case I didn't mention it before, the wildflowers really were extraordinary.
