Went to Redwood and did a fairly mild 8-1/2 mile loop, out East Ridge trail, down Canyon, up and all the way back on West Ridge -- the only really challenging part of this route is climbing from the valley floor to the ridge, and unlike the past couple of weeks, I only did that once.

Result: I am only mildly footsore and not feeling an immediate need to put ice on my ankle, yet I do have a reasonably good endorphin high.

Part of me feels vaguely disatisfied that I am not pushing, pushing, pushing, but clearly my body has been telling me the past couple of weekends that I need to be a little less aggressive. I do still have almost 3 months to prepare, so no need to panic -- in fact, I think it makes really good sense to stabilize for a while and just get used to the 8-10 mile range before trying for more than that.

Meanwhile, I am 99.9% certain that I am not going to try to go into the City tomorrow AM. Because: if I was going to do that, I would have to get up right now and do some chores, rather than fiddle with the computer a while and then go slump in the armchair and watch a movie. But if I stay home tomorrow AM, I can do the chores then. After sleeping in. And the cats will be happy.
