jaeclecticTo finish the saga of the weekend: Sunday was another day replete with chores, including the dread vacuuming. But then I went for a walk around Lake Merritt, and then decided to shake off a mildly anti-social mood and go to my neighbors' BBQ / open house.
This turned out to be quite fun, I got to talk to a couple of folks that I really like and hadn't gotten to chat with lately. And the food was fabulous (my lazy contribution was a large bowl of cherries, half Bing and half Rainier, plus a 6-pack of beer). The evening was capped by watching fireworks from their third-floor balcony.
[Aside: between the 2 BBQs I attended, I ate more red meat this weekend than I usually eat in a month. Maybe two months. Possibly three.]
In the process, I ate too much, and drank far too much. And then didn't sleep very well, due to a fine combination of: hot weather, very nervous cats reacting to fireworks, mild indigestion, fluid throughput, and odd dreams.
So I basically undid the good effect of getting a generous amount of sleep the preceding 4 nights. Nevertheless, it was fun, and I feel cheerier about the overall ratio of fun/chores for the holiday weekend.
