Decided today to try to go to the BayCHI meeting tonight, too late to coordinate with anyone. It was good/bad:
Driving from San Bruno to Palo Alto on 280, traffic all flowing > 80 mph, good.
Realizing I needed to buy gasoline and spending 20 minutes lost in Palo Alto seeking same, bad.
Seeing a few people I know, good.
Hardly got to talk to anyone, bad.
Presentations were interesting and stimulating, good.
Hearing about stuff that is way cooler than anything I work on, or even play with, makes me suspect I am inherently lame and dull, bad.
Doing the right thing to maintain my professional-social network, good.
Stop and go traffic on 880 at 10:00 at night (maybe there was an A's game?), bad.
Mind buzzing with interesting ideas, good.
Already up past my bedtime and not sleepy, bad.
Needing to go into the office tomorrow for a customer session for which I feel marginally prepared, bad.
Despite ending with two bads in a row, still glad I went.
