ready, set

jaeclecticI believe I'm done packing.
Two suitcases, absurdly large, plus an overstuffed backpack, plus a purse -- as previously noted, packing light is not one of my better skills. The only meager defense I can offer is that neither suitcase is really jam-packed. And it is 12 days (and I don't expect to have a chance to do laundry). And I did have to pack my sleeping bag and trekking poles and water bottles etc. And cold-weather gear for the high altitudes. So maybe it's not absurd, just regrettable.
I didn't do nearly as much cleaning and tidying up as I meant to, but I suppose I'll be forgiven. Still need to do the dishes, and perhaps take a swipe at the countertop. And change the sheets for Anne, but that's for the AM.
Got a "bon voyage" email from Heather, and missed a phone call from Linda. Despite having had a nice visit with Anne earlier, I feel rather lonely.
Tomorrow is likely to be tedious: waste time at Oakland Airport, flight to LA, waste time at LAX, flight to Lima, arrive after midnight local time and catch a few hours sleep before heading back to the Lima airport for an AM flight to Cusco. After which, things should begin to be fun.
OK, time to move away from the computer, towards the kitchen...
