It was a lovely weekend, really.

Saturday was taken up with preparation-for and then the party, which as previously noted was smallish but extremely fun.

On Sunday, I actually managed to finish the cleaning-up, went to the gym and transmuted my mild hangover into a good endorphin high, then went to the Parkway to see Good Night & Good Luck (not a bad film, an interesting bit of history, convincingly presented, right down to the omnipresent cigarette smoking!)

Today, I slept late and puttered away most of the AM, but then went for a nice hike, after which I headed into Emeryville for a bout of shopping -- occasioned by gift cards from Best Buy and Barnes & Noble that were burning a hole in my wallet (as the saying goes). I actually went into Ikea, ate some meatballs, and left without buying anything else. This *never* happens. OTOH, I did manage to acquire a couple of DVDs at Best Buy, a couple of random science fiction novels at B&N, and even stopped at Trader Joe's and got milk, so missions were accomplished.

Now I am observing that it is really just about bedtime, and I am quite disinclined to face that fact. Not that I am actually dreading work, it is just the alarm-clock & commute parts of the day that I'd like to do without... Ah well, c'est la guerre.

p.s. I haven't heard anything about that job I applied for, and probably won't since it really was a long shot. But I can't help but wistfully yearn for a 15-minute commute to Emeryville, and beyond that, a sense that I could settle down in the East Bay without dooming myself to a nightmare commute... *sigh*
