My knees have been playing up pretty badly the past few weeks, and I've just been trying to ignore it.

Today, after my realtor dropped me back at home, I decided to walk back down to Jack London Square, to scope out the exact neighborhood in a more leisurely way, and time the walk to BART, to the shore trail, and to the actual JLS yuppie-shop-cluster. On the way back, I decided to go a little out of my way and swing over to Lake Merritt, just for fun / exercise / to say hi to the birds. So, an hour and 20 minutes of walking, wearing my normal daily shoes.

Somewhere in that last mile or so my knees started whimpering, and sometime after I came upstairs (gimping badly) the whimper ascended to more like a shriek. I couldn't actually straighten and then bend my left knee without stabbing pain.

I slapped on a ice pack and the worst has subsided. But I am not pleased.

Probably shouldn't go to the gym tomorrow, huh?

ow! Take it easy, for sure. Ice, advil, more ice. Is that more or different pain that typically? Have you had it looked at? Poor knees!

I so feel your pain. I went on a big bike ride yesterday and then ended up walking all over creation with John. By the afternoon I was limping as my back and hip were acting up. This morning I plan to go to the gym - but primarily so I can use the steam room and whirlpool. I feel like you and I have the similar experience of constantly having to fine tune our activities, figure out what we did wrong this time so we can avoid the more severe pain in the future.

Which places at Jack London are you looking at? I've checked out some of the loft-type places there in the past and found some to be pretty cool.

The place I saw yesterday is in a building called "Water Tower Lofts" which is right behind (inland of) the Amtrak station (entrance on 3rd @ Alice, but the unit faces toward 2nd). Train whistles, yay!

Right now there don't seem to be a large number of lofts for sale around there, or if there are they're either out of my price range or under my size requirement, so I'm not seeing the listings. I did see one listing for a more conventional condo right on the waterfront, but it's kinda spendy plus "no pets" so the hell with that.
