Having spent a solid couple of hours of my work day: registering for the CHI conference, reading the new travel policy, setting up a profile on the new corporate travel site, booking a flight, trying to figure out if the hotel reservation I'd already made would violate the new travel policy, concluding it probably would, wondering if it was worth pleading for an exception, concluding not, booking a new hotel room, cancelling the old hotel room...

Now I've just spent another 3 hours: looking at flights for the outer leg of the trip, trying to decide if I should use money or frequent flyer miles, determining that there are no non-stop flights from OAK and only redeye nonstops from SFO, considering squandering all of my frequent flyer miles (AKA monopoly money) on business class, not being able to make up my mind and therefore leaving a couple of options on hold, starting to look at rental cars but deciding the hotel was more urgent, booking a hotel for the first segment of Pgh time but not the second, and then sending emails to: my dad, my Favorite Sister [tm], friends Beverly, Mike, and Greg...

I am exhausted. And it's not even done. And what the heck happened to my evening?
