jaeclecticOK, so I've joined Table for Six. The whole combination interview / pep talk / sales pitch was mildly surreal, but I was determined to give it a try unless it proved totally and absurdly unaffordable. Instead, it was only somewhat shockingly expensive -- the hardest part is that they require payment up front for a 12-month membership, whereas I was for some reason expecting a monthly fee. But what the heck, I just got my semi-annual bonus, and now I just spent it.
Anyway, my "consultant" was very sweet and reassuring, in between mouthing the company catch phrases.
I'm still kind of nervous, but just trying to hope for the best. And determined, did I already say that? And glad that I am doing something (while also fighting off mild waves of self-depreciation for having to pay to meet people, but there it is, apparently I do & I just hope it works).
Meanwhile, I don't really know exactly what happens next. I am supposed to get another phone call from one of the people who actually organizes the dinners. I wish I were already scheduled for my first one, just to get the jittery part out of the way.
