can't have everything
Feb. 25th, 2004 08:33 pmWent to see the loft in Lake Merritt again. It's not entirely completely absolutely perfect... but it's pretty darned interesting. And they've lowered the rent by $50, not a big deal but every little bit helps.
Pros:
Huge amount of space
Potentially very cool living space, and a lot of fun to set up
Close enough to BART
No beige carpet!
New, seems well maintained, resident manager / handyman
Mixed:
Has the wood floors I crave, but not particularly attractive ones
Neighborhood not particularly scary, but also not very lively
Cheaper than what I have now, but objectively still a lot of money
Slightly less convenient commute to city, but quicker to various East Bay activities
Cons:
High move-in cost
Makes potential jobs on Peninsula even harder to reach
Just flat-out not as cool as living in SF
I will truly miss my corner markets...
I just keep running into the wall of not wanting to accept that I can't get everything I want. I have to compromise on something: either I will continue to live with nagging financial anxiety, or I will move into a smaller and probably shabbier space, or I will move to a less cool neighborhood.
Having to make this choice just makes me feel sad.
And for this particular option, I should try to make up my mind by Saturday.
