Happy Sign o' the Beast Day, happy election day, happy Birthday Eve to [livejournal.com profile] podle, and happy anything or nothing to one and all!

On the real estate front: I am now officially under contract for the place on Lakeshore, which means:
- inspections
- need to review HOA docs
- paperwork with mortgage brokers
- and I have the next 10 days to back out

My mood about Lakeshore is actually quite good. I am feeling calm about furniture arrangement, pleased about the view and the closet space, and capable of dealing with the renovation wrangling. It's still an arranged marriage rather than true love, but I feel like it can work.

Therefore, as expected, Murphy's Law dictated that something else would finally come on the market! There is a listing today for a place in Adam's Point that is not quite a perfect location, but apparently move-in condition, already has hardwood floors, and is much much much cheaper (presumably because it only has one bathroom, which is fine with me, being only one person and not having all that many houseguests!)

So... continue to watch this space.

Ooooh! Go see the new place. You have time to back out, still, maybe this other place will be true love.

Yeah, that's pretty much the plan, need to find out if it's open this weekend.

I kind of feel like I'm being a flake, and making work for innocent victims (my realtor, the mortgage broker) but what the heck, they'll be getting paid as long as I buy *something*, and if nothing else it's due diligence.

Other than that, it's just stress. And a little bit of money. It will be nice when this whole process is just *over*.

Flake, nothing. Those folks will get paid no matter what, as you say, and besides, this is a HUGE decision. Nothing short of absolute certainty should compel you to buy any of these places.

Um, it's a lot of money. If the next property turns out to be your dream come true, you should hop. :)

Sorry, context missing: when I said "a little bit of money" what I meant was that if I cancel the contract, I will probably have already paid for inspections. This represents a sum in hundreds of dollars, rather than thousands or hundreds of thousands, so in context it feels pretty small :)

Sadly, the most likely outcome is that nothing will really be my dream come true, it will be another choice between different sets of imperfections and compromises. But if it feels like a better choice, of course I'll go for it. With due stress because if I have to give up on the one before knowing about the other, I could lose both, blah blah. *sigh*
