jaeclecticI have just hit one of those moments where I am utterly overwhelmed.
Logically, I think: I have all these files from SIMS that I haven't looked at in 4 years, pitch 'em. But then I start going through to take stuff out of binders and pull out the paperclips, because a good citzen recycles paper and reuses office supplies, and not only does it take forever but I start thinking: maybe I should keep these notes, it's all such valuable information...
Similarly, a box of diskettes containing photos, 1990's vintage. I should copy these to hard disk while I still have a floppy drive. But it takes forever, especially if I want to be organized about it.
And those are just two examples. I look around at how much else there is that I should go through. If I were stronger-willed I would just throw it all away without looking. Or, I could decide to keep it all and figure it out some other year. Which would mean, pay to move and store it all. Neither option seems very good. But the long weekend is almost over, and this stuff is not anywhere close to done...
I just want to weep. My head hurts. This is not fun. Et cetera.
Update: having vented and taken a short break, I decided to set aside the diskettes and push ahead with the file-sorting. Having steeled myself, I have now thrown away almost all of 4 file-boxes worth of SIMS stuff -- mildly entertaining to glance at the various papers and homework exercises about stuff I barely remember, but I did get good grades -- as well as a bunch o' older financial records which should probably be shredded, but never mind, I take my chances.
Still heaps more to do but at least I'm calm.
