yet another progress report
Sep. 7th, 2006 08:39 pmThe flooring work started today. Yay! (photographic evidence)
So far I am pleased but not estatic with how it looks. But I will probably be increasingly pleased as more of it gets done. And I am so glad it is actually getting done. All good.
Meanwhile, back at the kitchen ranch, the grout is not yet sealed, and I am still not seeing eye to eye with Alexis on it (although he did tell me that I did a good job cleaning the kitchen floor, which I suppose is almost an acknowledgement that he was wrong not to have cleaned it better -- and he did notice that I'd been using a toothbrush, which is the kind of thing you want someone to notice :) Meanwhile, he bought some other tile cleaner which he tried in one spot and thinks will take off the last bits of grout haze -- but I didn't want to spend this evening cleaning the kitchen floor again and went to the gym instead -- and tomorrow I have a T46 dinner to go to (amazing!) -- and he is perturbed that he can't finish the work until Monday because he's got a friend coming into town blah blah -- but I want to clean the tile myself before letting him near the floor with the sealant that he insists there is no way to put on the grout without getting it on the tile. On the one hand, I feel bad if he is inconvenienced; on the other hand, he almost ruined my floor! and he gets what he deserves.
My life has come to this: drama with the handyman.
Did I mention the pipes are still leaking in the master bath? But the other bathroom is done! Yay for having a shower when I move in!
Except of course it isn't really done, because I need to get a shower curtain rod, which inexplicably was not included in the scope of work. Also, the enamel has nasty holes in it where the shower door used to be attached, so I need to get the tub re-enameled.
It never never never never never ends.
But hey, so far no catastrophes have occurred that will require me to reschedule the movers. And the flooring work (touch wood! heh!) seems to be going well.

Date: 2006-09-09 01:21 am (UTC)He is, in fact, kind of cute. Not exactly my type (e.g. he is blonde, I go more for dark) but he has a wonderful voice and he laughs at my jokes.
Arguing with him about the grout has somewhat lessened my ardor. Still, if given reason to think he was interested in me for reasons other than business, I wouldn't say no.
In the meantime, I shall go to the T46 dinner, and who knows? It could be my lucky night :)
