that was... challenging

jaeclecticI thought today was going to be easy, but noooo... I really underestimated how much stuff I still had at the hotel (despite bring several loads yesterday), and how long it was going to take to ferry it all (via Mini Cooper and slow, small elevators, with only one laborer!) Many Mini-loads, many many trips in elevators, much lugging. Oh my, am I sore.
On the self-induced stress front, I made an appointment with a bilnds salesperson for 4:00. so I wanted to get all the schlepping done by then. Which I managed, but just barely. (And really, it *was* logical to do that today, rather than try to wedge it into a work day, or wait several weeks for a Saturday appointment.) So now I have quotes on a couple different options, and need to go to the showroom tomorrow and decide -- because I am on a mission to get ride of the vertical blinds (which are clattering in the breeze even as I write).
On the what-the-hell-can-you-do-with-people stress front, I had a moment of panic when I thought the shower contractor had let the cats out. The work was finished yesterday (yes, while I was moving in), but the final city inspection was scheduled for today. I spoke on the phone to the person managing the job, and then to the person who was coming to the apartment, and just to be safe *also* left a note on the door saying "please do not leave open, cats inside" and *still* came back to find the apartment door wide open. Fortunately, the cats seemed to think the guy was scary, so Ash hid under the bed and Lena hid under the covers, and neither of them wandered off down the hall as normal feline curiosity would have dictated. Of course, they've had a rough week, too.
Well, anyway. I am very glad that the moving-in part is done. All day I kept hurrying in and dumping stuff wherever I could find a spot, well aware that things were getting more chaotic instead of less -- but now I've got everything here and can start the process of creating order.
Meanwhile, I have a massage appointment tonight, which I surely need.
