I haven't really been sorting files since the crack of dawn, it only feels that way.

In fact, I did set the alarm and get up early to take Lena to the vet -- her ears look clear, yay! and she got a chiropractic adjustment, which may have helped her stiffness, I am reserving judgement until I observe her a bit longer. Also, I have the kitty version of glucosamine to put in her food, hopefully she won't hate it. [Didn't end up talking to the vet about miscellaneous incidents of misplaced cat poop -- hard to know if it's a medical issue when I haven't figured out which one is the guilty feline -- is that too much kitty information (tmki)?]

After that, I came home and worked my way through the overdue January budget -- meaning, the retrospective exercise of figuring out how much I overspent in some categories, and hoping that I underspent by the same magnitude in others. I hadn't actually yet spent any of my bonus from November, so that is going to cover the unexpected electrical work, the purchase of the kitchen cart, and the unusual amount I've been spending on tax consultations :/

Then I ran off to my own chiropractic appt, stopping on the way home for some impulse grocery shopping at Whole Paycheck. So, it's only been since 1:30 or so that I've been sorting through papers on and around my desk -- not *quite* 5 solid hours. But I feel like I've been slaving away for days. The results: I basically got through the stacks (and one briefcase full) of stuff I knew had been awaiting filing since before or during The Summer of Two Moves [tm]. And I did either find or reprint a complete year's worth of credit card bills and bank statements. Plus setting aside the slew of tax-related stuff that I knew was in those heaps if I'd only dig for it.

What I haven't done yet:
- Actually gone through and figured out if I have everything I need for my taxes. I suspect a few statements have not arrived yet, not sure what else may be missing.
- Opened up any of the file boxes in the closet to figure out if there is tax-related stuff that I (gasp!) actually filed during the first half of last year. This is actually rather awkward and physically difficult (heavy boxes, very limited space to work in, closet doors that don't move quite all the way out of the way, etc) as well as dull. Now I regret that when packing, I was focused on reducing the total number of file boxes, and didn't really try hard to make the contents make sense, or even try to re-label the boxes when I shoved stuff in... *sigh*

What I forgot until 15 minutes ago:
- That I had been planning to multi-task with massive quantities of laundry this afternoon.

Anyway, the laundry is now started, I'm taking a little break from the filing & tax prep... Maybe I'll just continue it tomorrow...
