mid-February resolutions?
Feb. 13th, 2007 07:32 amWell, I'm not so much into the New Year's thing, I prefer to resolve when I feel it. You know, I feel like last year was chewed and swallowed by the whole condo-buying process, which may have been a brilliant idea or the most idiotic thing I've ever done, who knows? But this year I ought to be able to get back to focusing on some other things that matter to me:
- I am going to stop letting my weight creep up. In fact, just rejoined Weight Watchers, and I'm going to start going to meetings, although I haven't quite figured out a perfect schedule yet...
- I'm going to get my exercise level back up where I want it (gym 3 times a week, rather than 2; stationary bike every weekday AM rather than the two-ish times a week that I've been managing) and also start hiking regularly again, not to mention just walking around Lake Merritt and appreciating my lovely neighborhood. This is, of course, related to the point above, but also just something I want to do because it feels good.
- Regardless of what I do or don't do about my job, I want to start paying more attention to my own professional development. I should make the effort to get to some BayCHI (and similar) events; I should read more in my field.
- This year I *am* going to travel. I've emailed my friend Heather to find out her holiday schedule, the better to descend upon her in England, and from there choose some European city to explore (Oslo? Lisbon? perhaps St Petersburg). I tentatively want to make my annual trek to PA in the fall this year. And perhaps early next year another South American venture, maybe even the Galapogos. Who knows if I really have enough vacation time, but never mind, I'll take a leave of absence if I need to...
Think that's enough?
