Instead of getting on the exercise bike this AM, I just spent that half hour sending a long email to Anne with comments on the tattoo design. I feel nervous, because parts of the design are just absolutely perfect and fabulous, and other parts are... just not OK. I hope it will get there by Saturday but I don't know for sure... I have this overly-polite reaction of not wanting to delay the inking because I know she's busy and that appointment time is valuable. But... it has to be right before it goes into my skin.

In other news, I seem to be allergic to something. The kind of something that causes itchy eyes, sneezing, plus a little bit of post-nasal-drip induced coughing. I guess it could be a cold, but the itchy eyes part tends to make me think allergy. What, however, is triggering this -- that is the mystery.

Last and least, at least one of the cats (probably Lena, but I can't prove it) has resumed using the second cat box in it's shiny new home. So, my furniture assembly efforts, however flawed, were not in vain!

Hmmm, as regards the tattoo -- it's tricky because one WANTS to be polite and accommodating -- but in this instance I think you should work on the design until it's perfect. I'm sure that Anne would be the first one to agree with me: your tattoo should only be exactly what you want. If that means rescheduling and waiting, so be it.

Where's it going? What sort of design? Hmm? Hmm? I'm so excited for new ink!!

Oh yes. I must work on the design until it's perfect, and of course Anne agrees. That doesn't stop me from feeling all squeamish when I have to say "no, it's not good enough yet, keep trying".

In any case, she is a trooper, and just replied saying first "This is what I get the big bucks for" and last "We're inking Sat come hell or high water" with some reassuring words in between about how my comments seemed very clear etc etc. Which was pretty much what I needed to hear.

The new ink will be on my upper back (I expect a little bit to be visible above the neckline of an average t-shirt), and is a combination of abstract floral designs inspired by my Turkish carpet plus Celtic knotwork. Because, why not?
