The afternoon did get somewhat better as it went along.

And I got to pick up my cool new sunglasses, whee!

Ever since I started needed glasses (mainly for driving, happened around age 30, as opposed to the reading glasses that I had as a child) I have had this particular approach to selecting frames: For the regular glasses, I want something basically bland, so I can wear them at work or in any other context and feel like they don't distract or clash with my clothes or whatever else my obsessive-compulsive brain might come up with. The frames I have now (which I just got new lenses for) are really perfect, because they are kind of cool and yet simultaneously quite neutral.

But for the sunglasses -- because of course I need prescription sunglasses -- I want something flashy. Now the last time I got glasses, the place just didn't have anything I really liked, and I ended up getting plain, boring, ordinary sunglasses, and for the 5 years since, I have been walking around feeling dissatisfied. But now! I am fulfilled!

If only I had a digital camera I would take a picture of them to post right now...

OK, I admit it, I am easily amused.

you should get a digital camera. just a little cheap one, at least. :)

Yeah, I am going to get one, although after more thought I don't know if taking it to UK+ really makes sense -- seems like it is easier/cheaper to carry lots of film than lots of memory cards... and of course I will not have a computer with me (...eeep! scary prospective withdrawal! eeeep!)

So I might wait and give it to myself for xmas :)
