...white gloves at NY Apparel, and at the Goodwill a block down on Haight St, not a white purse as I had been envisioning, but rather something perfect beyond my wildest imaginings: a vinyl purse with a holographic pattern which switches between zebra stripe and leopard print, not only continuing the chiaroscuro theme but adding to the undertone of Cruella DeVille creepiness....

Also, apropos of nothing, once again jgcr has correctly predicted my taste in reading as I am completely enthralled by Cryptonomicon.
