pictures (and names)

More pictures here, including one short video.
Rather to my own surprise, I've ended up naming them Cecily (shorter haired girl, in the rear) and Byron (boy with flowing locks, in the front). As I may have mentioned, their previous names were Simba and Nala -- Nala seemed inoffensive, but I really just couldn't have a cat named Simba. *shudder* From looking at their pictures, I had been thinking maybe Seamus and Nora. But somehow Seamus just didn't fit, although Nora seemed OK. But then, I noticed that girl-kitty consistently looked around when I called her "sister", so I reckoned she wanted a name with some S's in it. From there it just all seemed to follow... Byron is indeed rather lordly as well as sad-eyed, and Cecily is a bit shy, although that may pass as she settles in. It just seems to fit.
I've got at least one total lap-kitty in Byron -- he's been clambering into my lap every time I make one. Cecily tends to hover nearby, and then purrs like crazy when petted.
She is a bit more restless and curious, but also seems a bit more anxious. So far I've mostly had them in one room (the study, AKA office / exercise area / litter box room). When I let them roam for a little bit last night, Byron looked around and then came and found me -- he wanted the lap, never mind which room it was in. Cecily prowled around and then went back into the study and lurked behind the stationary bike. So I decided she in particular might feel a little more secure if they both stayed in the study overnight.
We're all hanging out there now (Byron on my lap, naturally, and Cecily lounging on a cushion nearby). I'm heading off to the farmer's market soon, and reckon we can make another attempt at the freedom of the apartment when I get back.
All good fun :)
