Ah, you've caught me being geeky. HCI stands for human-computer interaction, which is one of my main professional interests / themes / career goals / whathaveyou.

For me, what this means is that while I personally may genuinely enjoy fiddly technical stuff, I also have sympathy for those who just want stuff to work without having to learn the fiddly technical stuff -- and I find it an intrinsically interesting technical problem to try and design a computer program and/or web site so it's actually painless (dare we hope actually fun?) to use.

OK, me stop babbling now.

BTW, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it Saturday. Let's still try for that cup of tea (or functional equivalent) sometime soon...

As a non-geek - I heartedly applaud the whole concept of computer websites that are painless (although I suppose this has mostly likely become obvious, I'm still really proud of my ocassional ability to create a cut tag - yeesh!)
