1. Thanks to a timely pep talk from [livejournal.com profile] gen9, actually managed to avoid sinking into lethargy and went out to the event proposed by [livejournal.com profile] ilen. It was not at all what I expected (e.g., lounging on pillows on the floor, rather than dancing) but the company was excellent. Although I did spend 20 minutes wandering lost around the Tenderloin trying to find the place, keeping my chin up and looking confident the whole time :)

2. Twice recently, I've had a tarot reading, neither particularly impressive. The first was at the apt building party, and the guy was explicitly an entertainer, obviously probing for leads in the classic phony-psychic way -- although I did take note of the 5 card spread and write them down for later thought, not hard since he was using the Rider Waite deck which I used to use myself.

Then last night, there was a person doing tarot readings. Gen decided to get one, and came back raving about how amazing the person was. So Tom decided to try it, and was also very impressed. They browbeat Craig into going next. At this point, I'm actually feeling nervous: if this person is so good, do I want to know? if she gives me bad news, will I fall apart? But I decided that I was being chicken and should go for it -- sadly, the reading was a complete wash. Nothing she said clicked at all.

Which may have something to do with my not having really been open to it. But I had this very sharp feeling of being left out. Everyone else had this cool experience, and I didn't get it.

3. Over the past several weeks, I've been ramping up the amount of exercise I'm getting: more time on the stationary bike at home, going to the gym, going for long walks at lunchtime. This has paid off on the scale, as I'm finally back down to my pre-holiday weight. But aside from that, it just feels good. Really good. I can feel the difference in my body, and I can feel the difference in my mood.

Now the challenge will be to keep this up when I'm actually given something to do at work...

4. Busy day today, in a good way: shortly heading off to the city for brunchy brunch; then back to Berkeley for a chiropractic appt; a little time to hang out with the kitties before going to my tax appt with Karen, to be followed by dinner with Karen & Kris. Should be a fine mix of sociability and getting stuff done.

I have to admit, I'm a sucker for the tarot stuff, just love it. While she did come up with some specific stuff that was noteworthy, there was plenty of more generic stuff but I was hook, line and sinker by that time.

And I've had plenty of readings that were total fluff with nothing.

Yeah, it's definitely one of those mileage-varies things. I find it kind of interesting that after not having any exposure to tarot for a really long time, I've had these two events in close proximity. Perhaps there's a third one coming that will be the charm :)
