jaeclecticDidn't sleep well last night, or to be more precise, didn't sleep much: I was twitchy and couldn't drop off, then popped awake at 4:00 AM and only drifted until the alarm went off at 6ish.
This may have been that I was more nervous about today's presentation than I expected, or because I was mad about the vacation thing, or other random twitches of my brain that shall be left to your imagination. (Or all of the above.)
The presentation, in case I hadn't mentioned it, was describing the preliminary work I did last year on the PSFT next-generation IDE to the ORCL IDE UE team (wow, that was a big stack o' acronyms! well, if you don't know what it means, you probably don't want to know). Anyway, it went fine, despite the fact that there were numerous presenters with enough stuff to fill 4 hours and only 2-1/2 hours slotted. Everyone, but everyone, ran late, and I somehow got to be last. We ended up going through lunch time, so I started my presentation at 12:45 with severely low blood sugar. But I had practiced it enough that it went smoothly anyway. So, I feel like I managed to make a good impression on the ORCL folks, if I care.
I left Redwood Shores around 3, stopped at the UPS place near the Oakland airport to pick up a package: belated xmas / bday gift from my sister, an oversized black plastic raincoat that I had put on my Amazon wish list because it looked like a good bet for walking to the BART station in my work clothes. When I got home, the sun was out and I was thinking about going for a walk, but figured I better turn on my laptop and act like I was working for a little while. By 5:15 when I shut off the work computer, the sun was gone and so was all my energy.
Feeling very, very tired now.
I need to think about packing. For cold weather.
Plus figuring out who all I haven't yet gotten in touch with that I should try to see while I'm in Pgh. But that sounds hard.
