update for the sake of updating
May. 30th, 2005 05:47 pmI really have enjoyed (am enjoying) the 3-day weekend. After my outing to Vacaville on Saturday, I spent yesterday mainly puttering around the house, went grocery shopping, did the end-of-month budget calculations for May and set up my best guess at a budget for June (not knowing exactly what the IP take-home pay will be), before settling in for the evening with a glass of wine, a movie on the TV, and two cats on my lap.
Then today I went for a 9-mile hike. I've been having kind of a rough week with my knees -- probably the combination of a) helping to move furniture last weekend, b) the new gym routine having some leg exercises that I'm not used to, and c) more than usual, rapid walking to catch BART, wearing not-quite-right shoes. This is part of why I decided to hike today, rather than yesterday, just giving the poor knees a little extra time to recover. I'm pleased to report that this strategy seemed to work: I wouldn't have wanted to do much more than I did, but I got through it just fine. And explored a whole new corner of Redwood Regional Park while I was at it.
And came home with enough of a lingering endorphin high that I managed to: put away (almost all of) the rest of Saturday's purchases, wash dishes, put away the suitcases that had been sitting out for weeks, start laundry, wash fruit and vegetables, and even did (the dread!) vacuuuming without losing my good mood.
I'll be having dinner with K&K this evening, and have a couple of hours to kick back between now and then. Really, an altogether satisfactory weekend. I feel quite cheery.
