not complaining
Jul. 23rd, 2005 02:37 pmThe remarkably bad week is over now (she declares confidently, glancing over her shoulder). And the weekend is going fine.
Mind you, if I were going to complain, it would be about the fact that it's 86 degrees in my apartment right now. But I'm not complaining today, so never mind.
Took the cats to the vet last night, which went reasonably smooth, although I had to wait much longer than I expected/hoped. Ash flirted with the vet and calmly lay down on the table as soon as the vet took her hands away, and then got jealous when it was Lena's turn to get attention -- and did NOT want to get back in the carrier, no not at all. Lena, in contrast, decided that the carrier was the place of safety and whenever no one was holding her down, ran and jumped back into it. In any case, they both appear to be in good health, except that Lena has bad teeth just like Mama, and will need to go back for a dental visit in a couple of weeks. *small sigh*
This AM had brunch with jgcr & eac, unusually just the three of us, which was exceedingly pleasant -- not that I don't enjoy larger brunch gatherings, but it was a nice change of pace to see them and not have all of our attention divided several ways. Said a brief hello to the cartoon/symphony crowd on my way back to BART, which felt very awkward so I hope no one took offense that I didn't hang around to chat.
The rest of the weekend is pretty much freeform, although I do hope to have dinner with K&K either tonight or tomorrow -- guess I should call and see if there's a plan. Have all the usual weekend life-maintenance stuff to do, plus I really need to make a dent in the overdue housecleaning, in anticipation of the houseguest who is going to be here next Sunday night and the entire weekend after -- can't put it all off until next weekend because a) next weekend is already jammed with social plans, and b) I might actually need to work next weekend, we shall see.
Tomorrow I plan to try going for a hike -- a reasonably mellow, not too long hike, just to see how it goes. Wish me luck.
