My gut reaction is that this was a really smart move for the Republicans. I heard commentary to the contrary on NPR, but it was all about logic and reason, and since when does that matter in American politics -- people are just going to *like* this pick. Don't even get me started about how the word "maverick" makes me want to spit...

I (mis)managed to time things such that I have zero netflix DVDs on hand for the 3-day weekend. Gosh, four evenings with no Dr Who / Torchwood. Whatever shall I do?
