OK, now the holidays are over
Jan. 17th, 2006 08:37 pmI had been thinking that Saturday marked the official end of my personal winter-holiday season, but I'd forgotten that my sister told me she'd sent me a package -- which arrived today. Mostly stuff from the University of Pittsburgh (where she works): a magnet, a cup that says "Lil Sister", and a teddy bear.
But, the piece de resistance: a little book called The Thoughts of Chairman Miaow, which consists of classic Chinese communist posters photoshopped to have cats' heads in place of the workers', and mildly inane reworked slogans to match (e.g., "Political power grows out of a barrel of fish"). What can I say, when just looking at the cover made me laugh, the contents don't have to be all that good.
In other non-news, it took me an hour and 20 minutes to get to work this AM. Bah. Thankfully I'll work at home tomorrow.
