yesterday, today
Jan. 26th, 2006 12:26 pmI did manage to drag my ass out to the nicekitty show, despite being (per usual) exhausted after my therapy session. However, I was rewarded by another stellar performance, and a nice conversation with
gentlemoose (mostly about places we've worked and the non-joy of corporate mergers), and was energized enough to actually stay for the second band. Not the third, however, so I still haven't actually seen lurid bliss...
Aside on venue: I kind of liked the place: random decor, neither overly-crowded nor empty, just an OK feeling space. I was not too impressed with the sound, though: for both bands, the background vocals were almost subliminal, and overall it was just too damn loud. I know saying that makes me a fogey, but it's true. If I could have gotten a hundred feet further away from the stage, it would have sounded great and not hurt my ears.
Ah, well, c'est la guerre.
Then: woke up this AM reasonably cheerful and only mildly impaired by 6 hours of sleep after 3 beers -- or so I thought. The traffic was fairly light, I got to the office in 45 minutes, walked into my cube and looked at my desk: which did not have a computer on it. Because, I left it at home. With all my work-in-progress on the local disk drive. Aaarrgh!
So, I borrowed a computer briefly to check my calendar, apologetically cancelled (well, deferred) one afternoon meeting, met with my boss to discuss assignments, and then left for home. The good news is, when I leave the office at 10:15 AM, it only takes half an hour to get here.
Onward.

Date: 2006-01-26 10:32 pm (UTC)And yes, having cancelled that meeting, I had no reason to drive back to San Bruno *again*, so I'm at home. Thankfully, they really are very flexible and reasonable about such things.
