useless airways
Oct. 19th, 2003 01:16 pmArrgh!
In accordance with my low expectations, my reservations are still not visible on the usairways site.
So I call, and this time I get the following run-around:
uselessair: Oh, if you made that reservation online, you need to call the web site customer support number instead
me: But the person yesterday said she was doing something to put the reservation back in the system
uselessair: OK, yes I see what she did. You should be seeing that online now. Were you looking on virtuallythere.com?
me: Um, no, I was looking on usairways.com
uselessair: Oh, well, you need to go to virtuallythere.com
me: Is there a way to get there from usairways.com?
[no response, she obviously doesn't understand this question]
[she proceeds to give me a new record locator number, I proceed to go to this other web site and type it in, no joy]
me: I'm seeing a message that says this doesn't match any existing reservation
uselessair: Oh. Then it's a problem with the computer system. It's not a problem with your reservation.
me: I just want to make sure that I have whatever paperwork I need. Right now I have a slip for an electronic ticket that is dated 1 Oct, I would feel better if I had something that showed the correct date
uselessair: I can sent you a new copy of your itinerary by mail.
me: yes, please!
Bottom line: apparently the reservation is fine, but I can't help but be aggravated. No wonder this airline went bankrupt!
p.s., In case you were wondering, I have many frequent flyer miles left over from days of yore, when I lived in Pittsburgh PA, and when PIT was a major hub for US Airways, and when I often travelled to Europe on business... Therefore my need to continue dealing with these people.
