I do so love conferences.

This AM started with a session on the design of the Xbox 360, which was interesting more because of the intrinsic interest of the final product (so very different from what I work on) rather than any deep insights derived from their design process.

Then went to a really great panel on personas. I particularly enjoyed that although the moderator had deliberately included one designated skeptic, there proved to be a stealth skeptic in the ranks. Bwa ha ha! So there was a good variety of perspectives about when personas are the right tool, as well as some interesting ideas about things you can *do* with personas beyond the fuzzy team-building aspects.

All completely abstract in my current job, since we don't do any of the research that everyone agrees is the only way to create meaningful personas. But it was stimulating nonetheless!

At the moment, I've abandoned the idea of attempting to be social at lunchtime, got a falafel plate to go at "Resto Mediterra" and am here in my hotel room getting my internet fix. Off to the 2:30 session momentarily...
