miscellaneous twitches
Jun. 4th, 2006 09:41 amNothing much to report at the moment. Woke up early because Ash-kitty was nagging me, and then was driven from bed by worrying about furniture arrangement.
Spent some quality time with graph paper and the conclusion is essentially unchanged: yes, I will be able to arrange my stuff in the space somehow, but certain aspects of it will be cramped, awkward, and/or imperfect. C'est la vie: I can't afford perfection. This is just the characteristic grumpy waiting phase, in which I wonder if I want them to accept the offer or reject it!
Yesterday, I went to my first T46 "event" (vs dinner), which was an A's game. I enjoyed the ball game, it was a beautiful day, and the people I talked to were nice enough. However, I was unimpressed with how it was managed as far as being a venue for meeting people. They made one attempt to get people to move seats and talk to different people (in the middle of an inning, which didn't seem very clever or thoughtful) but since they only did that once, there were still about half the people there that I never sat close enough to talk to at all. At one point, they seemed to be starting a party game, where they handed out slips of paper with bad jokes on them. But then, they didn't give any instructions, so everyone just told their bad joke to the people sitting next to them, who they'd already been talking to, so what was the point? Also: this experience definitely reinforced the rumor I'd heard that T46 has more women than men: the men were outnumbered 2 to 1, at a baseball game for goodness sakes.
Then did the grocery shopping, came home, and had a full-scale eating binge, something I haven't done for really a long time. Trying not to dwell on the beating-myself-up aspect, and just concentrate on having a better day today, tomorrow, and so on.
Also, I really must go for a hike today. Fuck the vacuuming. Never mind seeing Al Gore's movie.
Also really, really must figure out voting stuff today, too. But hike first.
