Well, I still need to call my realtor back and make it officially official, but I've decided to back out of the place on Orange. So many things to like, but not sufficient to make up for troubling items. (I did talk to my realtor earlier, so he knows to expect this.)
And went to an open house today for a place that is promising: in Adams Point, not too far up the hill (just about a mile from BART), nice building, corner unit with a small balcony, trees outside the windows on one side, lots o' closets, wood-burning fireplace. The only cons seem to be the situation normal ones: electric stove, no in-unit laundry, beige carpet & mirrored closet doors. Plus the fact that the whole place is painted an exceptionally dark shade of cream, almost buttery, just sucks up the light.
So ideally I would *want* to get the place painted and carpet replaced before moving in, which is not quite impossible yet but getting quite challenging (unless by some *miracle* the property manager here relents about the 1-month extension).
Anyway, must go look again & measure, no rushing this time! (or, should say, normal rather than extraordinary level of rushing)
Meanwhile, back at the rest-of-life ranch, went on a T46 hike today. It was fun: a beautiful day, nice people, and a good workout. So now I'm cruising on an endorphin high, kinda sore, and still putting off the vacuuming...
Update: The deed is done, at least in my brain. Awaiting cancellation paperwork via email from David-my-realtor this evening.
Also, pulled myself together and did the vacuuming. Result: satisfied with myself, but also really sore now. Ow.
