OK, all clear

So I left a message for my current landlord, and then later met with the new property manager to hand over the application & a small deposit.

Said property manager later called me back to say he'd finished his credit check and spoken to my Berkeley landlord, and later yet left another message saying he'd heard from the current landlord, and everyone said good things of me -- so I am approved, just need to meet him Monday evening with a HUGE cashier's check (2-1/2 months rent = security deposit + pet deposit + 1/2 month rent for March).

And I just now spoke to my landlord who is being perfectly civilized about the whole thing (at least so far).

So, all my earlier panic was unnecessary. I am still kind of waiting for my adrenaline level to settle.

Oh, and annoyingly, Sam the property manager doesn't think he will be able to give me a key until after the 15th -- because he thinks the prior tenants will object, since I am only paying a half month rent. Like it is any skin off of their noses... anyway, if I want to go there to measure more or look at the curtains that the prior tenants want to sell me or just show the place off, I will need to make an appointment.

Never mind, it's better than paying a full month double rent.
