The big accomplishment for yesterday was renting a storage space, woo hoo. This just leaves hiring movers as the remaining large puzzle piece (and actually narrows that down a bit, since I decided not to go with one of the large companies that offer storage).
Lots of smaller puzzle pieces, of course, mostly around getting rid of stuff.
Also went to the gym, did the larger portion of the grocery shopping, and did a modest amount of desk-sorting.
And, went to my second T46 dinner, at last. I had tried to schedule two dinners during June, and each time was notified that they couldn't find a table for me. At which point, I got rather upset and sent an email saying if they couldn't provide the service, I was going to want my money back -- and naturally got a phone call almost immediately saying "oh no, no, of course we're going to make this work for you, just give us a little more flexibility, blah blah".
Now here's the thing: I do get that what they're doing is tricky logistically. But if I have to set aside my time two weeks in advance, and then won't find out from them until two days in advance, I don't really want to have to set aside all 4 possible dinner nights (Wed-Sat). I mean, I do have a *few* other things going on in life. *grumble*
But anyway: I did in fact give them three options for this week (Wed, Fri, Sat), and the Saturday was the one that came through. And, you know, it was a great group. I didn't feel any special spark with anyone, but compared to the previous table, they all just seemed more like my kind of people. And the restaurant (Indigo) was fabulous. So, all's well?...
My intention had been to schedule a couple of dinners a month and a couple of "events" a month, so roughly one T46 thing per week -- but since this dinner was scheduled late, I had already booked a hike for today. So, in 45 minutes or so, I'm off to another fabu singles scene </sarcasm>*
After that, the rest of today is dedicated to the sorting & discarding phase of preparing to move.
Because sarcasm is an excellent defense mechanism, and hope makes one too vulnerable.
