not quite fun
Jul. 29th, 2006 08:59 amThere is some satisfaction in giving stuff away, but right now it's slightly more than counter-balanced by the annoyance of logistics.
I just wish I could have found one person/group who wanted everything, or at least all the big stuff (since I can still move the small stuff to storage if necessary). Instead, I have a couple dozen people who want one or two or three items -- overlapping, of course, so person A wants the desk and one of the batiks, person B wants both batiks and the coat tree, several people want the coat tree and the mirror, several want the stereo and one or two other items, etc etc etc.
Plus there is one person who has sent repeated emails nagging me because I haven't responded. And another person who says she wants the cabinet (one of the big items that I really need to get rid of, because I can't easily move it to storage), plus a bunch of the smaller stuff -- but I recognize her as a person who never called me back about one of the small items I was giving away a couple of weeks ago -- so should I give her another chance or not? Meanwhile, I am still waiting to see if one of the guys from work will take that same large cabinet, and one of my upstairs neighbors might want the desk...
Ah well, this too shall pass. And I know that the worst that can happen is that I won't get the place completely cleared out, and the property manager at ELL will be pissed off. Boo hoo. (And, I suppose, it would be annoying to a new tenant moving in, but I don't know that they actually have one yet -- from which I get a certain vicious satisfaction -- you may have screwed me, but you screwed yourself in the process! ha!)
