Stuff:

The place has good water pressure and lots of hot water. This was not to be taken for granted, since water and gas (heating and hot water) are included in the HOA dues. (Among other things, this means that my PG&E bill is dropping from $100 to about $20 per month.)

The bathtub gets a B grade -- it is not the bathtub of my dreams, the one that would actually be long enough and deep enough, but it is not totally pathetic. (Note to self: must check about getting the tub re-enameled.)

On the bathroom theme, I am coming to the conclusion that I will actually use the hall bathroom more than the master bathroom -- it is larger, laid out better, less claustrophobic, has adequate counter space, etc. This seems odd but there you are. I keep looking at the shower in the master bath and thinking how much more I would like a washer/dryer in that space, rather than a second shower, which is a stupid thing to even contemplate when I just paid for new tile. Oh well.

In the short run, it is good that I like using the hall bath, because I will have to clear out the master bath for painting.

Also will need to do the same in the kitchen, which I am dreading. I have been procrastinating on calling the painter, who was annoyed when I called him last week to see if he could come and do the kitchen ceiling even though the bathroom wasn't done yet -- I wish I had thought to say "look, I understand it's a nuisance to make multiple trips, I'll pay you more for your trouble". *sigh* Just tired of dealing with it all.

Also, I keep looking at the kitchen light fixtures and thinking that I want to replace them, and wouldn't it be better to do that before painting? Gah.

I would happily procrastinate a couple of weeks on getting the painter back in, except that he did part of the work and I haven't paid for it, which makes me feel bad -- although I did tell him I was willing to pay for what was done, he didn't respond to that part of the message.

In general, the kitchen is quasi-semi-demi-organized, but definitely not in it's final configuration. I am trying to decide if I should move the dish cabinet into the kitchen, where to put (one or more) extra work tables, do I care if you can see the cat food bowls when you walk in the front door? etc etc.

Also, I think I need a larger rug for the dining area, and (or?) a smaller table. It is ironic but not unexpected that I gave away rugs, and now need more rugs (and no, that does *not* mean I want my old rugs back :)

Meanwhile, I've done some unpacking in the bedroom. Some boxes actually got unpacked, and others just got shoved into the closet so they are out of the way. It is getting there, but not quite right. Details like: where do I sit to take off my shoes? I am silly, I know.

When I am done babbling here, I need to fasten some bookcases to walls, go grocery shopping, and more more more unpacking.

Once again, I find myself yearning for more time off work than I've arranged. *sigh* Well, better get back to it.
