I actually spent the entire afternoon shopping, which felt extremely unsuccessful despite the fact that I bought lots of stuff -- I just didn't manage to get *any* of the stuff that I expected to be hard to find, and some of the stuff that I expected to be easy took longer than I would have imagined (e.g. trying to decide which of the anti-mildew primer/paint products would be best, since I couldn't get the attention of the paint guy at OSH to ask advice).
But, by the time I got home around 5, I had decided to not wait for purchases that may take a long time.
So, I put the temporary table back in the kitchen, and I rearranged the office with both blue rugs -- one for under the desk chair, the other for under the stationary bike and a small stretching area -- although I forgot to put a rug pad under the rug that's under the desk, c'est la guerre -- and put felt pads on the DR table legs so it can do without a rug for a while -- and fastened the bookcases in the office to their respective walls, and actually unpacked some of the non-fiction books onto those bookcases.
There are now few enough boxes of books in the living room that I can actually put the armchair in more or less the planned spot, and actually use the table instead of using a stack of boxes in lieu of a table. This is genuine progress, to be sure.
Now I am feeling very tired and back-achey, so although I'm not quite satisfied with today's progress, I have called a halt.
p.s. OBTW, I did buy a lemon tree. Because if you live in CA and have a patio, you ought to have a lemon tree. </universe according to JA>
