jaeclecticThe place is still chaotic, I haven't resolved any of my minor furniture dilemmas, and I need to get things sorted out enough to have 6 or 8 people here for the book club on Tuesday.
Strangely, although I did not get rid of any bookcases, and did get rid of some books, nevertheless I do not seem to have enough shelf space. It is a mystery.
Most boxes are unpacked, yet there are things missing. Perhaps there are boxes in the closets that I've forgotten. I should look, but not right now.
Oh, and much of the unpacked stuff is just strewn around. But it's out of the boxes. Hey, it's step one, right?
OTOH, I did buy gifties for Anne and go to her baby shower, plus get caught up on my budget, as well as finish the essential life maintenance chores (or almost finish, I have a couple things left to do this evening). The baby shower was fun, in that it was nice to see Anne, and fun to go walk through the Mission, and although I knew no one else there, except for being very slightly acquainted with Anne's partner -- K&K having both caught colds while travelling to PA for a funeral in Kris' family, talk about insult & injury. didn't attend -- Anne's friends were a welcoming bunch, as well as one of the most charmingly gender-bent collections of people you'd ever hope to meet. I admit, I am not quite blasé about having one (apparent) woman introduce another (apparent) woman as her boyfriend -- I mean, on the one hand, I truly am charmed, but I also feel slightly out of my mid-Atlantic bourgeoise depth. Basically, it makes me feel self-conscious about being so ordinary.
Aside: For those of you with an interest in baby clothes, note that there is a great second-hand store on College Ave in Berkeley. It was a good thing that K&K wanted to share my gift, otherwise it would have been embarrassing that I bought so much.
All in all, a fairly mellow and pleasant weekend. I now intend to finish up those last couple of chores and retreat once more to the armchair.
