not particularly reassuring
Dec. 30th, 2006 01:34 pmAs Murphy's law would have it, the vet I saw last time went home sick today because she was feeling dizzy. So, I saw yet another vet (the third in three visits), meaning of course she hadn't seen Lena with her current ailment, and was therefore relying on the other vet's notes and my assessment of Lena's condition.
Basically, I was left with zero confidence that the vet understood any more about what's going on than I do.
Apparently Lena's ears look fine now, so no more eardrops. I have a different antibiotic and separate anti-nausea medication for her. And I just have to hope that the vertigo will continue to improve (assume it is really improving, which is hard to gauge) and that today's bout of digestive issues was a delayed side-effect of the antibiotic that she's been taking for over a week already. I need to get her some more wet food, or possibly chicken baby food. If she doesn't improve, the next step is to take her to a specialist.
I got through the main part of the vet visit with reasonable calm and then broke down in tears at the end. I just feel so helpless, and the vet was so un-reassuring. Not that she didn't mean to be nice, but... I can't seem to stop dripping.
Back at the logistical ranch, I have to figure out what to do if Lena is still sick and/or on medication next week when I am planning to be away for two nights. Well, I suppose she is certain to still be on medication with the new antibiotic. Which I don't really even understand why she is on. Gah.
