vacation waning
Jun. 15th, 2008 10:09 amI am not feeling particularly ready to go back to work tomorrow. It just hasn't been an entirely restful week. *sigh*
But, the news on Lena is good: She ate again yesterday, and thank $deity had no more incidents of incontinence, touch wood. I took her to the veterinary chiropractor yesterday -- I'd made the appointment before leaving town, and when I asked Dr Lamont her opinion on keeping it, she waffled a little but said if I thought Lena could handle the stress of another vet visit, then it might well do her good. I figured after everything else this week, a nice brief visit to the vet wasn't going to phase her too much, and I'm very glad to have done it, because it seemed to make an immediate improvement in her mobility. She's not quite back to what passes for normal -- still weak, not able to get onto the living room furniture, and being very finicky about eating -- but incredibly close to normal, compared to the beginning of the week.
I had a pretty nice day yesterday: Managed to fit in a quick trip to the farmer's market, where I bought silly amounts of stone fruit, before taking Lena for her appt. Then ran around doing various other errands, notably buying an assortment of gravy-centric cat foods to tempt Lena with, and also getting the underwater pictures developed (as expected, very few turned out at all, but what the heck, it was all worth it for the pelican's feet). Then I went for a short hike, just around an hour. Then came home and did yet another three loads of laundry, made vegetable soup, ate cherries, drank wine, and watched the last several episodes of season 2 of Angel, while cuddling the kittehs of course.
I actually got a decent night's sleep last night, although my morning snooze was disturbed by the fact that both smoke alarms started chirping (not going off, just complaining about low batteries). They've stopped now, which I rationally assume means the batteries have died completely, but irrationally I suspect they sense when someone is sleeping ;) Oh wait, one just started again. So much for that theory :)
This afternoon I am going to Cal Shakes with Jen. Between now and then, I want to get to the gym, and I have a handful of other things that need to get done. Nevertheless, this moment resembles the kind of lazy weekend morning I savor.
