good (busy) weekend
May. 3rd, 2004 09:27 amAs noted previously, K&K were in town for Kristin ("Quoted in Forbes") the Master Taxgrrll's graduation. I got to see quite a bit of them, which was really nice. They stayed here Thursday night -- we had dinner at the local Cambodian place that Anne recommended, then breakfast at Venus.
I spent Friday afternoon preparing food for Saturday (vegetarian chili, fruit salad, cookies) while waiting for the DHL delivery that never came (grrr). I wasn't feeling lively enough to go out Friday evening, particularly anticipating an early day Saturday.
On Saturday, Kris and I drove up to Petaluma and had lunch with her ex-fiance Jeff, and checked out the renovation he's doing on the house, and walked around the garden. Then drove back and resumed preparing food (cornbread, veggies for dip), tidying up, etc for the dinner party. Which was really good. There ended up being 9 people there, big enough to be lively but small enough to talk to everyone. It was a good mix of people, too, including some friends of K&K's that I don't know all that well but like a lot.
So we all stayed up late, and then Sunday got up early again to go into SF for Kris' graduation ceremony, which was at the Masonic Auditorium on Nob Hill. Followed by lunch with another fun group of people, which segued into window shopping in the Ferry Building and then going to see their friend Beth's condo and hanging out the rest of the afternoon.
Now that all that excitement is over, I need to start concentrating on planning the trip to Hawaii. I am feeling a smidgen of anxiety about spending the money, but am trying to squelch it. I mean, I need to be reasonable, but worst case I'll be spending (part of) my tax refund, which was kind of "found money" anyway.
